George Chavez entered the auto repair business at a young age. He enjoyed the challenge of repairing his own car, and learned much from his father and from one of his first jobs working at a Shell gas station in Lafayette.

In 1985, he started his own business, George’s Exxon, located on Alcosta Boulevard in south San Ramon, CA. The location closed in 1990 as the land was part of a redevelopment project by the city.

His new location, Crow Canyon Exxon, was purchased in 1990, and business became so robust that in 1997 George acquired a second location to accommodate additional repairs. This second location, Ace Auto Repair & Tire Center was named and managed by Tom Fredrich, and located just north of Crow Canyon Road. Deciding that he wanted to stay in the repair business, but not in the gasoline business, George sold the Exxon Station, leased back the four bay garage from the new owner as Crow Canyon Auto Repair.

Soon, he combined both locations, keeping the name Ace Auto Repair & Tire Center. George has been at his current location, 2560 San Ramon, CA Valley Boulevard since 2002 and maintains the large shop with approximately 15 bays, 10 technicians, 3 service advisors, and 2 shuttle drivers. Tom retired in July 2015 after managing Ace Auto for 18 years. He is truly missed by many loyal customers and employees.

Ace Auto Repair & Tire performs all services, and repairs both foreign and domestic vehicles. Ace is licensed to perform smog, brake, and lamp certifications. Tire and alignment service is also a significant part of their business.
